Year 6
Welcome Dolphins, Sharks and Whales
Welcome to your new year group page!
What an action-packed Autumn First Half Term we will have lined up for you; we have many things to look forward to in our upcoming lessons. In English, we will study and enjoy the novel, ‘There’s a Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom’ by Louis Sachar and the text ‘Rabbit in Mixer Survives’ by Roger McGough. If you would like to read some alternative texts based around our English units so to not spoil the fun of finding out about the characters and plots within the classroom, you could read ‘Holes’, ‘Small Steps’ or ‘Fuzzy Mud’ by Louis Sachar. In mathematics, we will consolidate our knowledge and understanding of mathematics and apply our mathematical skills to investigations. In science, we will study ‘Electricity’ and ‘Light’ and, for our history and geography learning, we will be learning about WW2 in the creative curriculum topic ‘To Final Victory’.
We hope that you have a wonderful summer holiday. Do not forget to complete the holiday homework we gave you (a copy of this can be seen below).
It would be really helpful if you continued to practise your mental mathematics skills and daily reading in addition to completing the holiday homework. There are some really useful websites for you to do this on the 'useful links' page on the 'Year Group Pages' section of the website.
We are very much looking forward to our first half-term together in Year 6!
Best wishes,
Mr Mitchell, Miss Treanor and Miss Groves
